Bright Future

"I can now see where I am headed" Justine is 17 years. Her mother died in 2000 and Dad was 70years, always bed ridden and unable to support her. By then, she was in senior 2 supported by her auntie, unfortunately along the way she failed to pay her school fees.

Justine was enrolled into Lyantonde vocational school in 2004 and took up the tailoring course. Justine liked the course because it is marketable. She specialized in sweater knitting and catering. She can make home cakes and bread and wants to set up a kiosk in her village and get money to support her family. She has other three siblings. "With these skills I can now see where I am headed" said Justine who is completed her two year course in December 2006.

"Life will never be the same. I am a professional now and better than a senior six graduate. I have learnt new things other than skills from my course. I have interacted with several people who have experience in this field. I want to train other orphans in my area. Many orphans are seated in the village without any skill" said Justine.

Justine appreciates the support she has acquired from LWF. "I want to thank LWF for the motherly heart towards orphans. We are many orphans without support. We have got the capacity to contribute to the building of this nation. We were despised by the community but now people give us all the respect we deserve. I am happy for our LWF counsellor Mr. Mayanja who counselled us and supported us morally. I appeal to fellow orphans to change their behaviour especially when they get an opportunity like mine and to utilize skills learnt. They should also be innovative to make their lives better." added Justine. Like Justine, there are many orphans and vulnerable children who cannot even complete primary education. This is either due to lack of parental guidance, the increasing domestic workload or the high cost of scholastic materials which forces many children out of school.
