AIDS and HIV have ravaged Uganda, with a 6.5% prevalenceof infection nationwide. The problem is even worse in Rakai, where the first documented case of AIDS in Uganda was discovered. In 1995, AIDS prevalence in the Rakai District was at 25%, today it is at 12.5%. 21% of Lyantonde town citizens are victims of the disease. The reduction of AIDS and HIV infection incidences in the region is due in large part to the programs of RACOBAO and our partners that educate and support the community.

Our programs change the lives of orphans, women, men and families affected by AIDS.  We provide vocational training, community programs, sustainable agriculture training, AIDS and ART education.  We build houses for the poorest of the poor and provide goats to families for sustenance and income.

We are local, this is our community, and with the help of donors, volunteers, staff and community members, we are making a difference.  There is a lot more work to be done and we invite you to join us in bringing hope to the community.
